Software - SPX Bolting Systems
We recognise that the many service organizations need a software program to ensure that they consistently carry out their bolt working to the highest standards. The type of flange, lubricant and bolt material are amongst items taken into consideration in this software to ensure the operator is left in no doubt as to what is required.
The software is designed to be used for Subsea and Topsides applications whether it be torquing or tensioning that is required.
Adviser Software
The Adviser software considers many years of bolt working experience, where data has been channelled into a single computer software programme. Bolt tightening data, procedures and recommendations for standard flanged joints, makes adviser an invaluable tool to any industry.
The Adviser software package includes:
- Tightening data for BS1560, MSS SP44, API 6A and 17D flanged joints.
- Encompasses standard flanges, wafer check valves, spade and spacers, and swivel flange assemblies.
- Torque data and tensioning tool pressures for both Subsea and Topsides applications.
- Bolt extension calculations.

Neither Gee-Force Northern Limited nor SPX Bolting Systems supply manpower to carry out bolting work and we do not therefore have any conflict with the service organizations we supply equipment to. We are happy to share our experience with our customers as bolt working is not as mysterious as some of our competitors would have you believe!
Controller Software
Controller Joint Monitoring software is a bespoke database system specifically developed to plan, monitor, control and provide traceability of flanged joints and connections. This database system interacts with the “Adviser Controlled Bolting Software” calculation engine, runs on the standard Windows operating system and does not require the use of third party database servers. It has been adopted by major plant operators as an essential management system due to it’s simplicity and comprehensive covering of the plant and related maintenance.
Functionality
Full traceability and control of all activities associated with the joint/connection including :

- Machining/re-facing

Interacts seamlessly with “Adviser Controlled Bolting” software to provide bolting calculations and data for :
- BS1560/ANSI B16.5 standard flanges

- Clamp type connectors(Techlok, Grayloc, Galperti and Destec)
- Non-standard joints, i.e. pressure vessels, heat exchangers, compact flanges, etc..

Adviser Software
Adviser Controlled Bolting Software was developed to advise process pipeline contractors and engineers on accurate tightening data for ANSI, MSS, API topsides and sub-sea flanges. Since it’s launch in 2001, many companies and individuals have chosen to use Adviser. Because it is so easy to use, both experienced and non-experienced users have found the software to be informative, powerful and essentially invaluable to the degree that it has rapidly established itself as the world leading bolt tightening software.
The programme allows the user the option to create an individual file for the flange application. From there you can then select from a number of drop-down menus covering the flange class, flange size, bolt material, gasket type and joint type. The normal bolt size and bolt tightening data will be shown either in metric or imperial based on the user’s preference. Although typical standard information is automatically generated, the software does allow user specified data to be utilised and calculated based on that input. For further client information a dimensional drawing of the flange is also shown on screen which can assist to identify flanges that may have lost their stamped identification details. Further information provided includes the bolt length, bolt & nut dimensional data, bolt material data and the torque or tension calculation data in detail. The software goes on to advise the recommended load cells and pump pressure settings when tensioning the joint or the recommended torque wrench and pump pressure settings for torque tightening the joint.

All of the input data and calculated information can be saved as a customised “Joint Record Sheet” which can significantly reduce paper records as there is no longer any need to produce a Bolt Tightening Data sheet although that function is there should the user prefer to create and file print-outs.

Clamp connector tightening data covering brands such as Techlok, Galperti, Destec and Grayloc.
Custom flange calculation option for use with pressure vessel, heat exchanger, foundation bolts or compact flange application calculations.
Direct PDF generation of documents through the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
User logo facility to allow companies to upload their own logo’s and address details which will be generated on each new document.
