New Light Weight Torque Pump
A genuinely light weight, fast-flow electric torque wrench pump capable of being operated in either its vertical or horizontal position and weighing in at under 18 Kg. Combine this with the new generation TWSD square drive tools (models TWSD1, TWSD3 and TWSD6) which have been designed specifically for tough production-type environments and you’re on to a winner.
This compact pump is one of a new family of fast-flow pumps from SPX Bolting Systems. Gee-Force Northern Limited will have this new compact pump on working display on its Stand no. 248 at RenewableUK 2011 Annual Conference and Exhibition at Manchester Central Convention Complex on 25 – 27 October 2011.
If you would like more information about this compact pump, or indeed any other of our products, then please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail at graeme@gee-forcenorthern.co.uk or by telephone (mob.) 07949 633604.
New Hydraulic Torque Wrenches – Available Soon
For the nuts and bolts of wind turbine installation, here’s a sneak preview of the new hydraulic torque wrench tools from SPX Bolting Systems designed specifically for the production-type needs of the wind industry and other bolting-intensive industries. Whilst we can’t say too much at this juncture, they are faster and more durable than any other hydraulic torque wrench tools available ………..anywhere!
We hope to have full details of these new tools ahead of the RenewableUK 2011 Annual Conference and Exhibition in October where we will be exhibiting. In the meantime, these steel-bodied wrenches look pretty sleek to us. Pictured are the 3/4″ and 1 1/2″ square drive tools – available soon from Gee-Force Northern Limited.
Bolting Training – Changes On The Way
In line with the latest developments in bolt training and competence assurance and in conjunction with their ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board) approved training partners, Gee-Force Northern Limited has been making arrangements for delivery of the new MJI (Management of Joint Integrity) units of competence from the ECITB.
The new units will supersede the existing TECSkills units from the ECITB and are due for launch on the 1st of October 2011.
Such is the importance of this change that the “Step Change for Safety” group has given its support to the scheme and some parties are already suggesting that the new units should become a code of practice for the industries involved where regular bolting work takes place.
In addition to the scope of the TECSkills units, the MJI units will include the preparation and reinstatement of work areas, isolations, the interpretation of technical drawings and dealing with risk assessment and method statements.
Attached to the MJI units are endorsed certificates which allow the trainee to engage in Work Based Task Assignments to prove competence through real work on the job. When this has been achieved the trainee can take a technical test in each discipline to prove competence and thereby gain a certificate from the ECITB proving industrial competence for each unit taken. These certificates are valid for a period of three years and are transferable should the worker change jobs or work sites. The qualification is internationally recognised and, as such, workers travelling overseas will be able to demonstrate competence to employers anywhere in the world.
From our own experience here at Gee-Force Northern Limited we believe that these new developments will go a long way towards ensuring that bolting activities in the UK and elsewhere are safer and more efficient with fewer leaks and other fugitive emissions and with more of a “right – first time” outcome.
Have a Cup of Tea on Gee-Force!
Have a cup of tea on Gee-Force. Or a cup of coffee. In fact, have a cup of whatever you want and have it on us. Or to be more precise, have it on one of our Gee-Force coasters. We’ve had a whole load of Gee-Force coasters made which we designed in such a way so that they each looked a bit like a bolting label (the kind of label that might be attached to a critical bolted joint connection). And in fact they look so much like one of these labels that they don’t actually look much like a coaster! And with about 400 of these coasters (which don’t really look like coasters) to make use of, we thought they might look better and be more useful on your desk than ours. So if you would like a Gee-Force coaster (which looks more like a bolting label) then simply let us know and we’ll put a few in the post to you. No charge. Just promise to make it feel like a real coaster and we’ll all be happy. Cheers!
Flange Alignment & Spreading Tools – by Equalizer

Full details of the equipment range will be appearing shortly on this website although, in the meantime, we will be pleased to respond to telephone and e-mail enquiries for further information.

Gee-Force Northern Limited – On TV!
Gee-Force MD Graeme Cook was recently interviewed as part of the Renewable Energy programme which was shown on Sky Channel 166 last weekend. Also featuring in the programme were Gee-Force employees Nick Thomson (the guy with no head! ) and Danny Benson (the guy with half a head!). Nick and Danny were receiving training on the day of filming from bolting competence assurance provider Peak Performance whose MD John Horn also features in the picture. Needless to say, we still have some work to do on our photo editing skills!
Gee-Force – On the Box!
No, we haven’t joined the ranks of the luvvies just yet but Gee-Force is to be featured on the TV this next weekend. And whilst a BAFTA nomination is about as likely as my waking up tomorrow with a full head of hair, nevertheless the programme will show a selection of our hydraulic torque wrench equipment in use on a bolt training rig. So if you don’t actually know what our hydraulic torque equipment looks like or how it works, now is your chance to find out.
The first broadcast of the Renewable Energy programme will be on;
SUNDAY 12th JUNE (11:30 a.m.) – SKY Digital 166 and BBC/ITV Freesat 402.
Celebrity status may not be beckoning me just yet. But our hydraulic torque wrench equipment is very definitely “A” List. If you do get chance to check out the programme on Sunday then that would be great. And of course, if we can be of assistance to you either now or in the future then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Graeme Cook

Gee-Force Nuts
Who says nuts and bolts aren’t exciting?
Graeme and Nick certainly think that life is getting pretty exciting at Gee-Force Northern Limited right now. Their SPX bolting equipment is flying out of the door with ever increasing demand – both hire and sale – for this range of steel body hydraulic torque wrench tools.
Attendees at next month’s RenewableUK Offshore Wind conference and exhibition in Liverpool will be able to view a selection of the square drive and limited clearance tools on exhibition stand no. 167.
And whilst we’re building up to Liverpool, we’re also busy working our way towards obtaining the ISO9001:2008 Standard quality management system which we hope and expect to have completed later this year.
And we expect to have news shortly about a new, lightweight, high flow electric pump which will greatly enhance the operating speed of our hydraulic torque tools. We’re so excited!
Fast Flow Air Pumps – Prices Reduced!
If you use hydraulic torque wrenches in conjunction with air powered pumps then you will be interested in this. We supply Power Team’s Predator hydraulic torque wrench equipment for hire and sale. You may or may not know that Power Team have been making hydraulic torque wrench pumps for the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of hydraulic torque wrench equipment for many years. Power Team’s new Predator air pump represents a significant step change in system performance. The new pumps will operate hydraulic torque wrenches up to twice as fast in comparison to typical, two-stage work-horse pumps and thus dramatically reduce the time taken to complete your bolting work.
As with all Power Team products the new pumps are backed by Power Team’s unique Marathon Lifetime Warranty.
And with immediate effect, we are now able to offer these pumps at prices significantly lower than has previously been possible.
If you would like to see and/or learn more about these pumps then please let me know. You can contact me by telephone on 01282 415468 or my mobile 07949 633604. Alternatively you can e-mail me at graeme@gee-forcenorthern.co.uk.
